John Galliano's last show - Women Prêt-à-Porter F/W 2011-2012

A lot of things have been published since this horrible case with John Galliano. I don't want to repeat all the details, because everybody knows them even without my help. What is more, we had tiny pieces of information, which we combined to get more-less clear vision about what's happened.

I absolutely support John and know that we should be able to forgive. I believe the fashion business is really tough, and it's hard to stay cold-minded, so Galliano just was too pressed, too imposed, and drinking was - to his mind - a way to get away from tension and stress.

I become angry when they say Galliano is antisemitic. Just look back on his previous collections. I was really lucky to meet Godfrey Deeny (Fashion Wire Daily) at this point of view, because he knew Galliano for more than 15 years. And we had a nice talk about all this going on. Well, he emphasized several times, that "Once this video was out, he [John] was done. It was all over. There's no way he can be back as a designer. People will never forgive this. Dior house became toxic because of his name." Also, he said John was a genius. A genius who could express himself despite hard times in his life.

This is the video of his last collection, Women Prêt-à-Porter F/W 2011-2012, which was held in a Paris mansion. What was terrible, even editors had to stand, not sit, because at the last moment the show was decided to happen. Firstly it was reported to have been cancelled.

Oh, how I'd like this collection not to be the last! And deep inside I believe, I know that Hope dies last. Enjoy the true masterpiece..

Kiev Fashion Days: Day 1

Say welcome to my first post!

This very first one will be dedicated to Kiev Fashion Days. KFD takes place twice a year, in March and October. Kiev Fashion Days is the first international fashion event in Ukraine. We present catwalks from the best ukrainian and international designers, exhibitions and workshops. The face of KFD is Alla Kostromicheva, world-famous ukrainian model.

What's also interesting, the representative of KFD in Europe is Godgrey Deeny - fashion-observer, the European editor of leading international information Internet agency Fashion Wire Daily, the judge of award CFDA – Oscar in the fashion world, the former editor-in-chief Vogue Hommes International and the fashion-critic of a man’s fashion in The Financial Times.

(Looks like Kobzar, doesn't he?)
The event started with the press-conference with Francesco Scognamiglio - italian fashion designer, whose show at these KFD was the jewel of the whole thing. I was really pleased with the way he was dressed: dark blue suit with double-breasted jacket with golden buttons, golden watch, tie-less a little bit unbuttoned shirt and - oh my - ruby-crimson velvet loafers. Exquisite.

Another guest of the event was well-known blogger Yvan Rodic, famous for his blog Facehunter (which on Thursday moved to yvanrodic.com). He  was a little bit late, but that's because he was just from the plane, and as soon as he landed, he made towards Mystetskiy Arsenal (where KFD is held).

After some people left, some chilled in the lounge zone. Kazbek Bektursunov, the organisator of KFD, Alla and Godfrey sat together and talked, while Daria Shapovalova shot some short pieces for her show.

On the whole, I liked the beginning. Lectures, presentations, shows, well-dressed people - something to look at. Personally I am really glad, that these steps forward are all in all somehow taken, and will soon lead (I'm sure) to bigger, greater opportunities for Ukraine in the fashion world.
