Karl Lagerfeld's Magnum Chocolate Suit

Karl Lagerfeld recently collaborated with Magnum ice cream, one more time, after he shot an ad campaign with Rachel Bilson. And it was good. in fact, were good. Because there are three of them: Art Class, Applause and Mood Photo. You must watch them if you haven't. Baptiste Giabiconi is so undoubtedly worth being Karl's muse.

Not by chance I talk about Baptiste, who also starred in Lagerfeld's The Tale of a Fairy, which debuted during his Cruise 2011/12 show. This French model played a very important role in the creating the chocolate suit.

Lagerfeld's 'Chocolate Suite' has been created to celebrate the launch of Magnum Ecuador and Ghana, the first Magnum ice creams to be made with specially selected cocoa beans sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms in Ecuador and Ghana.

Karl Lagerfeld has designed a hotel suite made entirely out of chocolate (yes, just like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Everything is made out of dark and light chocolate. Bed, walls, blanket and pillows (with laces), furniture - everything that's there. Firstly you might think you see a beautiful alive man. But in fact, that's just the chocolate version of real - yes, Baptiste Giabiconi, mentioned above.

The imaginary chocolate suite was brought to life by Patrick Roger, master chocolatier and chocolate sculptor. To create the suit, they spent 400 hours and 10,5 tonnes of Belgian chocolate.

Lagerfeld stated: "It has been an absolute pleasure to design the Magnum Chocolate Suite. My idea was to flirt with a mix of modern and traditional French influences to create something remarkable". But Kaiser won't try his masterpiece, not a single gram: "My doctor told me that sugar wasn't needed for me so I haven't touched it in ten years. I like chocolate. I don't eat it, but I like the smell of it. People can drink with their eyes; I can eat with my nose. I would love to have a perfume based on chocolate."

You can see the process of creating the suite and Karl's commentaries about the whole idea in Karl Lagerfeld & Magnum video.

Here are the photos of the Chocolate Suite. Enjoy yourselves.

Remarkable. As he wanted. I adore Karl.

Patrick Robinson leaving Gap

The $14.7 billion Gap Inc. now needs a new designer - on May 5, Patrick Robinson was replaced from the brand. He was brought by the company in 2007. What's most notable, he took a year to re-design Gap's entire denim line. While Patrick was 'reining', a successful collaboration with Stella McCartney for Gap Kids also happened. Nevertheless, Gap sales in North America slumped, and that was the reason Robinson has been fired.

Patrick Robinson, supported by Anna Wintour, is a graduate of Parsons School of Design, which has produced such successful designers as Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Tom Ford. He previously worked at Giorgio Armani, Anne Klein, Perry Ellis, and Paco Rabanne. In 2007 he became Gap's president of Gap Global Design for Adult and Body.

On May 5, Glenn Murphy, chairman and CEO of Gap, Inc., stated: "Patrick has been a dedicated and passionate advocate for Gap brand and our customers over the last four years, and we're grateful for his hard work, especially related to our 1969 denim... Our leaders of the new Gap Global Creative Center are taking the necessary steps to compete and win around the world."

Gap is still in search of Robinson's replacement. Meantime the company will be managed by Jennifer Giangualano, senior vice-president of Kids and Baby Design.

We just have to hope that all the firings this year are for the better.

Chanel Cruise 2011/12 Show - backstage

Chanel Cruise 2011/12 show, which took place at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Cap d’Antibes, May 9th, was stunning, because it's Karl, who always creates a marvelous thing. It was The Tale of a Fairy, created by the designer, it was my beloved Abbey Lee, who opened the show, it was a fabulous hotel, which is one of the most expensive in the world.. It was brilliant. But what was happening backstage the show? When the whole show is perfect, I become even more curious about what was there, behind the curtain, that secret special place, where last preparations are made and counted seconds are left before the world can enjoy one more masterpiece of a genius. Enjoy yourselves.

Not usual to give screenshots for a video of 2:09. But I believe it is a movie. Short piece of art. Everything is perfect together: clothes, models, music, place, light colours.. That's what I affect Chanel for. That permanent striving for the perfect. That unbelieveable aspiration for perfection. Will to be better and better. That Passion. I adore Chanel. I adore Karl.

Chanel Cruise 2011/12 Show - photos

Yesterday Chanel Cruise 2011/2012 show took place. It was held at Cap d'Antibes Hotel, one of the world's most expensive hotels. During the show debuted Karl Lagerfeld's short film The Tale of a Fairy. It will be soon posted at chanel.com.

What I liked about the show (I don't even mention clothes and the background, and those beautiful tables for guests - that's marvelous) is Abbey Lee, because she's my favourite model, and last season she didn't walk as many shows as she used to. And now I again can enjoy her walking in Chanel. That makes me glad.

Here are photos of the collection. Enjoy yourselves.

Vanessa Paradis: song for Rouge Coco commercial

Vanessa Paradis performs the soundtrack of her Rouge Coco commercial, directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino (in the past he directed two music videos for Vanessa - Tandem and Natural High). Enjoy her "Daydream," written by John Sebastian.

There's something special about it. And oh, prepare to cantillate it day and night. What a day for a daydream..
