Karl Lagerfeld: no Paper Passion fragrance

Karl Lagerfeld WON'T launch a fragrance called Paper Passion.  His obsession with books is at least as strong as the obsession with creating clothes. The designer owns a bookstore in Paris, called 7L, situated on Rue de Lille, 7. And, of course, we can't but mention his infamous studio in Paris, where Lagerfeld keeps around 300 000 books.

I'm upset, to be honest, because not so long ago I finally realised how wonderful the world of books is, and how bottomless, eternal it is. And I was so looking forward to this fragrance hitting the shelves of stores. What's more, Karl Lagerfeld for me has always been something special, and everything he touches 'grabs' my mind and doesn't let go. That's what Karl does.

But still we won't see Paper Passion, since the designer's PR director Caroline Fragner recently said that only beauty giant Coty Prestige develops and distributes any fragrance for the label Karl Lagerfeld. She also stated:

“Mr Lagerfeld refutes his implication in the launch of the perfume Paper Passion. This project, of which Mr Steidl [Steidl - Lagerfeld's publisher] told him about, only emanates from the art books' publisher himself.

Mr Lagerfeld copublishes many books with Mr Steidl but sticks to Coty Prestige when it is about his own perfumes' creations.”

Books shape man's mind and heart. I adore Karl Lagerfeld.
